Laura Stevenson is one of my favorite current songwriters. Her voice is incredible - fragile, powerful and calming all at once. Needless to say, when I was asked to make a poster for her 2016 European & UK tour, I jumped at the prospect.
I created full print and web versions of the illustration, along with some extra social media stuff. The screen-printed version turned out great, too!
The Tasty is a primarily vegan diner in South Philadelphia. Since opening in early 2016, they've enjoyed some great success and have garnered praise from outlets such as PhillyVoice and PhillyMag.
I was tasked with creating and launching The Tasty's website, updating their menu, and handling a few miscellaneous bits of design and direction along the way.
A few segments of this project were executed in conjunction with Jon Loudon of Random Embassy.
Alchemy Hours is a half-real record label/publishing company centered around the body of musical work I've created over the last decade or so. I coded it with help from Treehouse, CodePen, GitHub to make it clean, functional and fully responsive.
Oh, yeah: I did all the branding & typography, too.
Here is a smattering of illustrations created for Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
A majority of these images were commissioned by the Cohen Center of Modern Jewish Studies, which is a multi-disciplinary research institute dedicated to the study of issues related to contemporary American Jewish life. CMJS uses innovative research methods to collect and analyze socio-demographic data on the Jewish community.
I've known Lila Rose Kole since 2012. She has appetite for making art, and divides her hours among the demands of creating numerous commissioned works for corporate and private collections, directing Hartshorn Studios, co-owning a gallery and teaching.
Lila wanted her branding to reflect the warmth, elegance and tonality evoked in her paintings. I did some custom type treatments for her, put together a cohesive identity, and created a portfolio website informed by her aesthetics.
4walls is a leading boutique designer and manufacturer of wall coverings for residential and commercial contract markets that has been active since 1998. As a freelance contractor, I've had my hands in numerous projects of theirs: design & art direction, high-resolution image editing, web content management, and massive print and fabrication jobs.
Here is a sample of one of the most recent projects I worked for Level, a subset of 4walls that focuses on customizable designs and textures for commercial applications. I encourage you to visit their site to learn more.
This logomark, primarily inspired by 1960s Telecom-era branding, will be used for all future applications for the NJ/PA band Earth Telephone.
I managed to get the planet, the phone lines, the "E" and the "T" all contained within one mark and stripped it down to a circle and three lines - easily replicable by any sixth-grader who happens to need something to doodle on their binder during math class.
I built a quick website for it, too!
BikeCleveland is a 501(c)(3) advocacy non-profit for people on bikes in the Greater Cleveland area. They work to improve policy, infrastructure, and legislation to help make Cleveland roads places that serve people and communities, not just traffic. It was a pleasure working with them on this t-shirt design and will serve as a consistent reminder that I should ride my bike more.
A Valentine's Day marketing graphic for the ACLU-PA, utilized to encourage people to write their representatives.
This layout was created for Seattle / Nashville-based electronic music label Ganjaology. Musically, I come from a punk rock / indie rock background, so I felt a little out of my element with this project.
The music on "The Oxygen EP" uses analog synths & samples and couples them with digital beats and textures to create something refreshing and new. I wanted the art to reflect that.
The print job looks great, too - some really nice gloss treatment there.
A brochure created for the 2015 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Cleveland Rocks Awards, presented at Cleveland's own House of Blues. The Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) is the professional organization that brings together public relations, communications and marketing practitioners throughout greater Northeast Ohio.
This was project was created in conjunction with Prosper for Purpose.
Hartshorn Studios is home to a growing community of full time working painters, sculptors, and photographers, serving an international clientele who seek artwork of elegance, craftsmanship, and inspiration. The Studios are invested in enriching the community through sharing skills and encouraging other artists.
I've been fortunate to work closely with owner Rob Hartshorn and gallery manager Lila Rose Kole on an identity for the studio's two locations, as well as a number of promotional and marketing materials.
This was a series of posters and graphics created for Meridian's first trip to the other side of the world in May of 2016. Most of the shows were with Australian indie-folk duo Pinch Hitter, so I wanted to use imagery that had two distinct yet relating subjects.
This was initially just supposed to be a set of web graphics, but upon landing overseas, we saw that they'd been printed, amended with Chinese lettering and even reproduced on a chalkboard outside of a venue in Wuhan!
A few related projects here: I also art-directed and designed the Meridian / Pinch Hitter split 7" record as well as the debut Pinch Hitter LP.
Here's an icon created for Restore Democracy, a campaign branch of progressive political organization DemocracyMatters.
A variety of promotional and marketing materials created for University Circle, Inc.
UCI is the development, service, and advocacy organization responsible for the growth of the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland - a premier urban district and world-class center of innovation in health care, education, and arts & culture.
Very pleased about how the die-cut works with the imagery on this record.
A few t-shirt designs created for one of my favorite bands, Philadelphia's Restorations.
T-shirt design for Traverse, a punk rock band from Paris. Their guitarist Priscillien is a great designer, too. We bonded at a music festival in Florida & were able to make this happen a few months later.
Assorted illustrations, book covers & icons for content marketer and best-selling author Mike Fishbein.
The Harvest Month was a 30-songs-in-30-days project that I completed in September of 2013. The concept was simple: write and record one song a day, every day, for an entire month.
This is one of my favorite record covers I've ever done, and it was featured on Dribbble as part of their "weekly replay" that catalogs the best work on their platform.
T-shirt illustration for Cayetana, an indie rock band from Philadelphia. I was fortunate enough to be asked to do some work for them just as they were featured on NPR.
